Crochet Heart Coaster – Free Pattern

You are free to choose the yarn and hook according to your own personal preference. Match your hook properly with the chosen yarn. If you tend to crochet loose, use a smaller hook size. In order to create a smooth, absorbent surface for your coasters, you should keep the stitches tight.
- Yarn in red color calling for a 4,5 mm hook. I used bulky weight yarn 100% cotton, ball size: 110m/100gr (120yds/3.5oz)
- Crochet hook size 4.00 mm (US G-6)
- Wide eye needle
Gauge and Measurements
Work 10 sts and 10 rows in sc measure 5,5 x 5,5 cm (2,16 x 2,16 inches).
Made from listed yarn on a 4.00 mm crochet hook, the heart coaster measures about 13 cm / 4.11 inches.

Start by chaining 11
Row 1. From 2nd ch from the hook: Sc along the chain (10), Ch 1, turn
Row 2-9. 10 Sc (10), Ch 1, turn
Row 10. 10 Sc (10)
Ch 1, crochet along the side: in the same stitch between the 5th and the 6th rounds (middle of the square) crochet: [1 Tr, Ch 1] x 9 (Photo 4 and 5);
1 Sc in the corner (1st stitch of the other side, Photo 6 and 7);
Ch 1, crochet in the 5th st of the other side of the square: [1 Tr, Ch 1] x 9 (Photo 8 and 9),
1 Sc in the corner (last stitch of the side). Ready.
Slst in the next st of other side of the square, Ch 3 (considered as 1 Dc) plus Ch 1 (Photo 11), [skip 1 st, 1 Dc, Ch 1] x 4 (Photo 12 and 13);
in the corner (1st stitch of the other side, Photo 14) crochet: [1 Dc, Ch 1, 1 Dc], continue crocheting along the side: Ch 1, [1 Dc, skip 1 st, Ch 1] x 5 (Photo 15),[1 Dc in ch1-space, Ch 1] x 9, skip ch1-space, 1 Sc into sc of the previous round (Photo 16), Ch 1, start from the 2nd ch1-space: [1 Dc in ch1-space, Ch 1] x 9, 1 Slst in the 3th ch of ch4 (Photo 17).
Sc in ch1-space (Photo 19), [Ch 3, Sc in next ch1-space] x 19,
Ch 1, Sc into the sc of the 11th round (Photo 21), Ch 1, from the 2nd ch1-space: [Sc in ch1-space, Ch 3] x 8, 1 Slst, weave in ends.
